ART PROGRAM
G-thamini Youth Group began its Art Program in 2015 as an outlet for the creative spirits of the young children of Mukuru kwa Njenga. The Art Program has thrived under the mentorship of African Artist Simon Muriithi. Simon is an internationally recognized artist, known for his mixed media paintings. He was recently featured in a month long exhibit at the National Museum of Kenya.
The students learn a variety of techniques such as sketching, painting, print making, collage and mural arts. Several of the students have been studying in the Art Program since its inception and have excelled through this program. This Award Winning Art Program has once again gained success in Eastern Africa by 3 of its young artists winning an award in the Mask Competition for 2022. The Art Program was also invited to exhibit their work at two separate Country Clubs, first for a 4-day exhibit at the Muthaiga Club and then an ongoing exhibition at the Karen Country Club.
